Our new cages consist of 3 separate units that are attached
and moved as one complete unit.
Each cage is 2' W x 2' H x 8' L totaling 32 cubic feet. Each section has
a recessed litterpan. If the pan is removed the cats can travel from level
to level increasing their total living area and allowing the males to get
additional exercise.
Usually the only cats caged are the siring males.
Females, when bred and within 2 weeks of delivery, are moved from the cattery to the upstairs loft to a kittening cage.
All kittens are born in the loft of the second floor of the
main house.
When the kittens turn 6 weeks of age they are left out of their kittening boxes
to run the loft and eventually the house.
The kittens become socialized by having access to two floors of the house where
they learn to run, jump and play.
Our babies become socialized members of the family so they easily adjust to
their new homes when they are adopted.
Of course we always have a few new show kitties or one or two favorite neuters that run the main house and help to share our bed at night.
We recently installed a new air purifier on each of the three
levels of the house. So we highly recommend the use of air purifiers. During our
recent vet inspection, our vet told us we had "ZERO CAT ODOR" in our house and
cattery and he said that was truly amazing, especially with three siring males.
